You can say when a setup should only be marked, for example "only when price is above the 200 EMA on the 15-minute chart", "only in the London session", "not on Fridays" or "skip the 9am hour". Wildflower asks about each condition you describe.
What a condition can be
- An indicator: a simple or exponential moving average, the RSI, the average true range (ATR, in ticks), Bollinger bands, or the highest high and lowest low of recent candles (a Donchian channel). It can be on your setup's candle size, or a larger size that is a whole number of them. You choose what must be true, for example the candle closed above the average, or the RSI was below a level you type. It can also be that an average is rising, falling or has just turned up or down, that the bands are narrower or wider than a number of ticks you type, that a candle closed above the high or below the low of the candles before it, or that price has come back at least a number of ticks you type from that high or low. You also choose whether it applies to the last candle or to any of a number of recent candles, and whether it must or must not be true.
- A candle pattern: the last candle of a size you choose must, or must not, be an inside bar, an outside bar, the narrowest of the last four or seven, or a bullish or bearish engulfing candle.
- Sessions: Asia (midnight to 7:59am London time), London (8am to 12:59pm) and New York (1pm to 9:59pm).
- Days: Monday to Friday, by the London calendar.
- Hours to skip: clock hours on Chicago time, typed in your own words.
- Before the close: no setups in the minutes you type before the market's daily close at 4pm Chicago time.
- After an open: no setups for the minutes you type after the opens you pick: the CME reopen (5pm Chicago time), the London open (8am London time) and the New York open (8:30am New York time).
- A daily rest: no setups between two times you type, in a time zone you pick, every day.
Your numbers
You type every number yourself. Where the Bot has its own number for a setting left empty, the indicator always writes yours, so the Bot's never applies.
How conditions are read
A condition is read on candles that had closed by the time your setup's candle closed. That includes a larger candle that closes at the same moment. Sessions, days and hours are read when the setup's candle closes. These are the Bot's own conditions, read the same way. So an indicator with conditions marks the same setups a Bot with the same rules would find.
Your indicator asks how many recent candles an indicator condition looks at, and whether it must or must not be true. In the Bot, a condition that leaves those empty looks at the last closed candle only, and must be true.
