A strategy is a stack of versions. Each save adds a new one, and the earlier ones never change.
Why saved versions never change
Every trade records a short code for the exact rules that took it. If a saved version could be edited, that code would point to rules that no longer exist. The record of why a trade happened would stop being true.
So when you open a strategy that is already trading and press Save, you make the next version. The account keeps running the version it was given until you give it the new one.
What each version shows
- A version number, and a short code that identifies it
- How it was made: built in the builder, written from your description, imported, or shared with you
- Your own note, if you wrote one
- Whether your answers were recorded with it
- Whether it is a draft or ready to run, worked out fresh each time
Comparing two versions
The compare view shows what changed between any two versions of the same strategy: which blocks were added or removed, and which values moved. That includes the named parts of a detector. So a version that only changed a shelf's touch count still shows as a change.
What can go wrong
A version that was ready to run when you saved it can show as a draft later. That happens if a block it uses has gained a required field since. The badge is worked out fresh each time, so it never says a strategy is ready when Wildflower would refuse to switch it on.
